Jhane's Take on the Glass Cutting Boards

The print quality on these is very good, but there’s an important material reality to understand first: the glass itself has a green cast. That means every design shifts slightly greener than it appears on screen.

Knowing that, I design for it.

Multicolor designs like Stripe Along and Action look the best because the color variation offsets the green nicely. Designs that are already green, like Slice and That’s a Wrap, lean even greener overall — which actually works for them. Mezzo Brown and Mezzo Blue don’t contain green at all, and I like how clean and restrained they look against the glass.

The print is applied to the underside, which protects it in normal use, but it’s still glass. If you drag the back across something rough, it can scratch and the print can wear. I’m careful about that.

The cutting surface has a subtle textured emboss, which is nicely done, but cutting on glass is inherently noisy. Because of that, I don’t use these much as cutting boards. I use the smaller ones as serving boards, and the larger ones as placemats. They’re easy to wipe clean and work beautifully on the table.

They’re best thought of as graphic, easy-care surfaces rather than workhorse cutting boards — and once you approach them that way, they make a lot of sense.
