Jhane's Take on the Pet Beds

The top of these beds is a soft, fleece-y polyester, and yes — it’s genuinely cuddly. I call my pets my kids, and they immediately gravitated to these. The fabric also prints very well, even with the distortion you normally get from a raised nap, which surprised me in a good way.

From a functional standpoint, the best thing about these beds is how lightweight they are. I can lift them onto a chair with one hand when the robots are cleaning, and they’re easy to carry outside onto the deck in the summer. That turns out to matter a lot in daily life.

The underside is 100% cotton canvas in brown, which works nicely with all of the colorways. There’s also a zipper, so the cover can be removed and washed without drama — something I care about more now than I used to.

Years ago, I had my company’s tailor make a custom dog bed to coordinate with my Womb Chairs, using rugged contract interior fabric. It was unquestionably superior quality by any traditional standard.

And yet.

The dogs prefer these new beds. They like the softness, and honestly, so do we. They’re easier to move, easier to clean, and easier to live with — which ends up mattering more than pedigree.

These aren’t precious objects. They’re everyday, well-considered, comfortable beds that get used constantly — and that’s exactly why they stayed.
