Jhane's Take on the Leashes

(and why they’re coming down)

At first, I thought these leashes were a win.

They’re well made and rugged, and they feel substantial in the hand. The main strap is black PVC, which is bad for the environment, but in this case it felt flexible, comfortable, and likely to last a very long time. The materials are also water resistant and anti-microbial, which is genuinely practical for something that gets dragged through real life.

Only the outside of the handle is printed, and initially the printing seemed fine — it didn’t chip or flake right away, and it looked like it would hold up.

And then I did what I always do: I went to actually look.

The print is rubbing off in several places, and the metal ring is already losing its finish. Once I noticed it, I couldn’t unsee it. This isn’t about abuse or unusual wear — it’s just not holding up the way I need it to.

So this product is coming down today.

It’s disappointing, because the base construction is good and the leash itself feels right. But if the printed area and hardware can’t stand up to use, it doesn’t belong here. I’m not interested in asking people to accept wear I’m not comfortable with myself.

Sometimes the review happens in real time. This was one of those cases.
